Emotional response, no. But, the videos made the trauma center come to life in a way that nothing besides being in the room for an emergency could. I loved the passion we saw the doctors working with, especially in the last video. They fought for that boy’s life for the 20 minutes we saw then another 40 minutes afterward. That showed me the passion it takes to be a physician more than anything ever has in my life.
It was the first time I had ever seen any sort of ED examine that wasn't on myself, so I did feel some anxiety, but mostly amazement for the passion of the doctors and the large amount of people all working on one patient. It was great to be able to connect our interactive experience in the Adult Trauma Department to real tapes and younger patients.
If there was an emotional response, it was definitely excitement and amazement. I had no idea how many doctors and nurses it takes to save a life, or how much teamwork it takes to keep things running smoothly. It was a great experience and made me even more excited about the rest of the program.
